Tag - Gas Buildup
Gas buildup can be caused by a number of things, including eating too fast, drinking carbonated beverages, eating foods that are high in fiber or sugar alcohols, and swallowing air.
Swallowing air can be a common cause of intestinal gas buildup, especially if you eat or drink quickly. When you swallow air, it is carried down into your stomach and intestines where the bacteria in your gut will digest it. This process produces methane and carbon dioxide, both of which are gases that can cause intestinal gas buildup.
Foods that are high in fiber or sugar alcohols can also cause intestinal gas buildup. Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot digest. Radishes usually contain significant amount of dietary fiber, therefore they are related to gas buildup.
